PFC Sochi has been relegated from the Russian Premier League (RPL) following a 1-1 draw between Akhmat Grozny and Dynamo Makhachkala in the penultimate matchday (Round 29) of the season.
The match in Grozny ended 1-1, with Mohamed Azzi opening the scoring for Dynamo Makhachkala in the 38th minute. Galymzhan Kenzhebek equalized for Akhmat in the 83rd minute.
Sochi, currently at the bottom of the league table with 21 points from 29 matches, can no longer avoid finishing in the relegation zone. The two worst teams at the end of the season are automatically relegated to the First League.
This marks a return to the second tier for Sochi just one season after they secured promotion via the playoffs against Pari Nizhny Novgorod. Prior to that, the club had played in the top flight from 2019 to 2024.
Following 29 rounds, Akhmat Grozny sits in ninth place with 36 points, while Dynamo Makhachkala occupies 14th place with 25 points.
