I met a guy this year and we spent 3 weeks together before he went to his home country. We had 3 months of a solid relationship in which I missed him a lot. He would text me everyday and call me when he could which was most nights after his work. He accepted me fully and never said a bad word to me. But I was told by the girl he cheated on me with that he had in fact cheated on me a month earlier. This means he cheated on my only one month after being apart. He also kept in contact with this girl. He was flying out to visit me 4 days after I found out, he was always going to visit and already had the tickets. He decided to still come to visit me even after i broke up with him. He said he wanted to apologise in person and cried and begged for my forgiveness. He told he me hurt someone who's innocent and who did not deserve it. He doesn't blame me for his cheating. He seems a very broken and confused man. I do believe he knows he made a terrible mistake, but I'm too hurt to take him back. I just wish we could still use our feelings for each other in another way, it seems such a waste otherwise.
Am I being overly optimistic accepting his apology? Or was this truly an act of weakness?
Is it stupid to think we can still be friends, I'll be moving to his country next year for my own purposes. Would it be dangerous for me to continue seeing him?
