The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) announced on May 7 the results of the election for the new Athletes’ Committee, with Chinese Olympic champion Liu Shiwen among 10 athletes elected as members.
The election concluded on May 4, with over 300 able-bodied athletes participating in the voting. To ensure regional and gender balance, eight able-bodied athletes were selected to the new committee. Besides the two incumbent chairs, Liu Shiwen and India’s Achanta, representatives were also elected from Wales, Ghana, England, Algeria, Ecuador, and Romania.
Additionally, the Athletes’ Committee includes two para-athlete representatives from England and the United States.
A new chair for the Athletes’ Committee will be elected subsequently.
